A trip to Sweden's Northern Archipelago

It all started last September at Werner's 50th class reunion at Beverly Hills H.S.  We dined and visited with Rick Widdows and Eddie Ardow.  Eddie, who lives in Stockholm, invited Rick and us to come to Stockholm for a visit.

Today, Eddie and his girlfriend Marie packed a plentiful picnic dinner, and off we went for an excursion to Eddie's house on one of the 30,000 islands that make up the Archipelago.  The weather was toasty and perfect for a swim.  Sea eagles and other sea birds whirled above us.

An Inauspicious Beginning

Little did we know, when we checked into our airport hotel the eve before our early morning departure, what was in store for us. A 45-minute wait to check into our room, because the hotel internet was down, was the beginning of an exhausting adventure that eventually got us to Stockholm 36 hours later.

In the morning when we awoke, an email informed us our flight to San Francisco was  1- 1/2 hours late, so we missed our connecting flight to Stockholm via Munich. To make a long story short, we eventually arrived in Stockholm via Frankfurt at 1:30 am instead of the scheduled 3 pm arrival.
